Keeping you active and injury free

Neurological conditions result from damage to the brain, spinal column or nerves, caused by illness or injury. Many of the precise causes of neurological conditions are not yet known. Some neurological conditions are life-long and people can experience onset at any time in their lives. Others, such as cerebral palsy, are present from birth.

There are also conditions which have a sudden onset due to injury or illness, such as a head injury or stroke, or cancers of the brain and spine. Some neurodegenerative conditions, such as multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease, affect people mainly in adulthood and will cause deterioration over time, affecting a person’s quality of life and their ability to live independently. Some neurological conditions are life threatening, most of them severely affect people’s quality of life and many cause life-long disability.

At Physio Vita we have a great interest in helping people with Neurological conditions to regain independence and improve their quality of life. We have broad experience with balance training, gait re-education, vestibular rehabilitation and Neuromuscular Stimulation devices. Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on using both the mind and body to achieve optimum performance.  The deep stabilizing muscles of the body are conditioned and strengthened using sequences of movements that use gravity, body weight and specially designed equipment as forms of resistance.  The connection between the mind and body is crucial to Pilates.  Pilates trains the mind to maintain a constant level of awareness of the way the body moves.  This results in a greater control of motion and vastly improved technique.

We offer small classes and 1 to 1 on both types of Pilates that we have at Physio Vita:

  • Body Control

  • Biomechanics & Body alignment
